Valentines Day Fun with Toddlers

Valentines Day can be so fun but it’s also one of those like in between weird holidays, especially for kids.

Today I have ideas of fun ways to enjoy Valentines Day with your little ones.

Finger Painting / Bag Painting

I have talked about this activity before and it’s one of our favorites, we do this every holiday. We are still doing bag painting, so I drop some paint all over a piece of construction paper and slide it into a bag, then my son will move the paint around with his hands without it getting all over. Take it back out of the bag, let dry and cut into whatever shape (Christmas Tree, Heart, Easter Egg) great family gifts or keep sake ideas for yourself. You can definitely do the same thing with finger painting though for older kids and it would be just as fun if not even more.

Chocolate Homemade Play Doh

Homemade play doh is so much fun and so easy. I made chocolate play doh for Valentines Day that was of course edible incase my little man decided he wanted a taste. I shared the recipe and showing how I made it on my Instagram but it was basically just chocolate sugar free pudding mix, cornstarch and water. Easy quick fun that lasted about a week in the fridge.

Valentines Day Cookies

Do we really need an excuse to make cookies? Probably not but here’s a good one for you, grab some heart shaped cookie cutters and make some Valentines Day cookies with your little ones. Even my one year old loves to get involved with cooking, get some piping bags and sprinkles and have fun!

Gingerbread Houses

Gingerbread houses aren’t just for Christmas anymore! Have you seen the Valentines Day gingerbread houses at Target right now? This can be a great activity for your kids, you and your kids or if you really want to bring out your competitive side, do it with your spouse. My fiancĂ© and I did a competition at Christmas that got pretty serious lol.

Valentines Day Sensory Bins

Grab some strawberry Jello packs, make it on a pan so its nice and thin, and use those cookie cutters. This is such a simple, fun activity. Your kids will love the feel of the jello and if they are anything like my son, they will LOVE using the cookie cutters. You can normally find little cookie cutters at Target for each holiday, perfect for little hands.

Colored Food

You can do this activity with dry rice if you have older kids that don’t eat everything they touch. I kind of look forward to that time lol. But if your babies are still putting everything in their mouth try this with cooked pasta. Just add food coloring to make pinks and reds, throw it in a bin with some cooking utensils to scoop, stir and flip it around and you have yourself a great sensory activity.

Newton Baby

Thats it for today beauties!

Of course, always explain to your kids in the best way they can understand what each holiday is actually about, but always make it fun. These little moments they may not remember but you will look back on forever.

Thank you so much for being here another week. Make sure to follow me on Instagram if you haven’t already for all my daily life stuff and if you loved this one check out my Sensory Play article next!
