The Ultimate Newborn Registry Must Haves for First Time Moms

Today I thought I would share the best baby products I have found for the newborn stage and beyond. I included things I had and loved and also things I wish I would have gotten or gotten sooner that I will definitely use with any future babies I may have.

So lets get into it.

I’m going to separate these into 4 categories.

Sleep

Hatch Sound Machine

I believe they currently make 4 versions of this. I went with the basic model and we LOVE this.

White noise is extremely important for our little ones sleep, especially a newborn. It keeps outside noise from disturbing them, and prevents the child from falling into too deep of a sleep.

We also love the added night light feature, my son does not like a completely dark space. You have the ability to change the colors for different times to help with sleep training.

We use blue at night as that is a calming sleep color and yellow in the morning. You are able to control the device completely from your phone and have it set to go on and off at certain times which is also great for sleep training. Blue light and ocean sounds come on, it must be time for bed. This is truly a staple product for us.

Sleepers

Yes, of course all babies need some kind of pajama to sleep in but you need zipper sleepers, trust me. Preferably sleepers that zip from bottom to top and top to bottom. These make night time changes so much quicker and keep the baby from getting cold. Trust me, this is a game changer with all the newborn diaper changes. We loved Carters, and Cloud Island Brand. Both of these brands also have the sleeves that can turn over the babies hands which is great for newborn stages. Mittens don’t work don’t waste your money just get some good pajamas.

Humidifier

Having a baby born in or close the winter months I would definitely invest in a humidifier. The home is just typically too dry for them and will cause some congestion issues. We noticed that with my son towards November and December, brought his out and it helped a ton. Plus they make tons of cute ones for babies to match room themes and make them fun. We went with a monkey. You need to make sure you get a cold mist one incase the child can get close enough to it and its hot. Cold mist will prevent burns from it.

Swaddles/Sleep Sacks

This was such a hard one for us and we tried it all before finding what worked for us. I wasn’t going to include this one because it really is so specific to the baby but I thought I would share my sons preferences incase your baby is the same. We found out quickly he did not like his arms swaddled down so we found the swaddle ups. Now these in my opinion are pricey but he loved them. He did quickly out grow them though so we then switched to the Halo Sleep Sack at about 3 months old. The first night he used one he slept through the night. Gives the child the feeling of a blanket/ swaddle while having arms free and using safe sleep. I highly recommend both of these if you find your child does not like their arms swaddled down.

Feeding

BURP CLOTHS

I need to heavily advise this one. We would not have made it through the newborn stage with out burp cloths. Newborns tend to spit up a TON. Being a new mom I thought it was just my baby and something was wrong. Its not just your baby I promise. Its extremely common, make sure you have burp cloths and I recommend a lot. I was told so much not to buy them and I am so glad I got some. I got the basic Carters ones but I WISH I would have gotten the Copper Pearl. they are a lot thicker and have tons of cute patterns.

Boppy Support Pillow

I was only able to breast feed for a short amount of time but this pillow worked great even just with feeding bottles. I would just wrap it around me and lay him on it, it was great. our son was a very tiny newborn but I think it work just as well for larger babies. We also used this as he grew to help assist in sitting and for tummy time. I highly suggest one.

Wireless Breast Pump

Now this is one I didn’t have but man do I wish I did. For any babies in the future I will DEFINITELY be getting one. I have the Spectra S1 which is by far the best pump, you can charge it and unplug to still walk around but I found that all the time I was pumping I couldn’t hold my baby which really bothered me. From my research I will be getting the Elvie Pump for any future babies. It is not hospital grade so it is not covered by insurance and it may not have the strongest suction but the convenience of being able to do things and hold the baby makes it worth it.

Baby Brezza Bottle Sterilizer and Dryer

I got this later on and WOW would this have helped from the start. If you strictly bottle feed, you will go through a lot of bottle in the beginning. Having to wash, microwave sterilize and let bottles plus pump parts dry is definitely something I don’t miss.

Lounge/Play

Fisher Price Baby Rocker Seat

When we received this as a gift I thought we wouldn’t use it, boy was I wrong. I think this might of been my absolute favorite. If you have to choose between this or a Boppy I would definitely choose this, you can pick it up and move it anywhere, it rocks or sits still, and it has a toy attachment. By one month old we used this all the time. It also adjusts to lay down or sit up for as they get older.

Lovevery Play Gym

This was another Item I wish we had from the start this is the BEST play gym. Each side is step up for sensory stimulation of the 5 senses. One side is set up great for tummy time which is why I wish I had it from the start. This can also turn into a tent which is great for them as they get older. my son loves the tent now. I have previously reviewed a few of the Lovevery Play Kits if you are interested in starting the subscription as well.

Stroller

We started out with a base model Graco and that was a huge mistake in my opinion. I think it would be for anyone thats going to use a stroller on a regular basis. We later ended up going with the Chicco Corso Stroller which I do love. The only down fall Is it does not turn into a double stroller which may or may not end up being a problem in the future. I wish I would have went with the UPPA baby Vista from the start so if its in your budget thats the option I would have went with.

So thats it guys! My must have and wish list Newborn baby items. Check out some of my baby product reviews and self care tips for mama listed below. Let me know over on Instagram if you end up trying any of these things or if any of these are your favorites too!
