MOM LIFE,  SELF CARE

Quick Easy Makeup with These Essential Products

I was makeup obsessed when I was younger, the more makeup I could pile on the better. Being a mom or even a even a busy person as you get older you realize that is just not logical anymore. Honestly now that I am older I feel more beautiful with less. I have really found my core beauty products that I think EVERYONE needs to try. After seeing how much you all loved the hair transformation and acne skin care articles I knew I had to share. I also want to go over some technique and just basic tips for a makeup look as well.

Lets get into it shall we?

I am going to lay this out in order of how I would apply and give you my staple products and tips under each category, I hope that makes sense.

*I make a small commission for all qualified purchases from links below. *

Primer

At one point I was using two primers every time I would do my makeup. Now after testing a TON of primers out, I have really found that if you have a good moisturizer for your skin type, your skin is prepped and primed. IF I am going to use a primer I use a matte one in summer and a glowy one in winter. This tip could really go for any skin type, matte in summer to control the oils from heat and glowy in winter to help the dry skin from the cold. I don’t really have a staple product for you for this one though besides my holy grail Belif Aqua Bomb that I truly believe could work for everyone.

Foundation

If we are thinking quick makeup, typically its lighter coverage. I have two staple products for you.

Sephora Best Skin Ever

The first time I tried this I was SO impressed. This is the perfect natural coverage and finish. it truly looks like your skin but better. Completely airless on the skin leaving you with the most comfort all day. I have nothing but good things to say about this one.

Tip: I know a lot of people prefer beauty sponges, that has never been my journey. I find this to apply its best with a short dense brush. I recommend avoiding dragging motions when blending foundation out and stick to stippling. This will give you the best finish.

Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint

This reminds me a lot of the Best Skin Ever foundation except the Finish is just different. This I do not need a powder for which I HUGELY appreciate if I’m doing a super quick look.

Tip: I like to pair this one with just a small amount of light coverage concealer for a refreshed look. I won’t use this as a full makeup look product.

Concealer

The two staple products I have for concealer depends on the look you are trying to accomplish. if I want a quick look but I full look, I will use a full coverage concealer. If I am using my Fenty Beauty Skin Tint and just want a refreshed look, I will go with a very light coverage concealer.
Here are my two must haves.

Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer

This is full coverage but with enough creaminess to it to not look dry. Blends extremely quick and is truly airbrushed looking.

Tip: Apply concealer to all areas of the face before blending. This allows product to dry slightly which adds additional coverage.

Fenty Beauty Bright Fix Eye Brightener

I use this one pretty much on a daily basis even if I’m not wearing makeup just to look a little more awake. Mom Life lol, but I will also use this if I’m wearing my skin tint to keep the look as natural as possible. It is exactly the name, it will truly just brighten any darkness in the under eye area with a natural finish so no setting powder needed.

Powder

I never set my face and under eye with the same powder. A light dusting with something with a slight color under the eye will add to the brightness and I prefer a brighter under eye than the rest of the face. As far as the face goes, a light glowy face powder works best to avoid the dry cakey makeup look. I would recommend this even if you are a more oily person, if you are trying to achieve a natural look.

Best Under Eye Setting Powders

Best Glowy Face Setting Powder

Tip: light application is the best when it comes to any powder to avoid the cakeiness. I use a small loose brush shown below.

Loved dirty brushes because that’s real life.

Bronzer

I never realized how beautifully natural creams can be on the skin. I recently fell in love with cream bronzer and it has taken my makeup to a next level. if I want a simple look, I will use a cream alone but if I am going for a full makeup look i will apply this first than top with one of my favorite powder bronzers to set it.

Best Cream Bronzer:

With extremely blend ability this will leave an effortless look.

  • Jaclyn Cosmetics Cream | This product was sadly limited addition but will return in the core line come 2022 get it once you can again it is worth it.

Best Powder Bronzer

Blush

Blush is by far the best part of makeup. I said what I said.

Jaclyn Cosmetics Blush Stick

This is such a unique formula. It can be applied on skin before or after powder. I’m not sure if this is a core line item or not but it is still available now. Out of everything I have recommended this is the one thing I hope you try. I’ve never found anything else like it.

Buxom Primer infused Blush

The staying power of this one is just incredible and the application looks completely effortless.

Highlight

Highlight is kind of becoming a dying product to most I believe but I still use just a little to top a look off.

The queen of highlight, you know she has the best.

Setting Spray

Personally I think MOST setting sprays are overpriced wastes of money.

I do see a HUGE difference in my skin appearance when it comes to cakeiness of my makeup when I use the Morphe Continuous Setting Mist.

I thought about cleaning these up but decided to show how truly loved they are.

Eye Shadow

This is definitely a complete personal opinion. I prefer for my eye color and clothing style warm tone shadows and LOVE Laura Lee Los Angeles Nudie 2

The makeup industry has improved so much over the years I truly don’t think many brands produce bad quality shadows anymore because its so easy not to now. If you see a color story that makes you excited to try it, go for it, you will more than likely not be disappointed.

Brows

I only use the NYX Microbrow pencil, but if you are using a brow pencil, pretty much all of them are the same. DO NOT feel obligated to purchase high end brow pencils, really brow products in general. All brow products i have tried from ELF and NYX have been just as good as Anastasia or Benefit.

Lashes

As an ex Sephora employee, mascara was almost always in our gratis . I’ve tried a lot.

Best Mascaras

Length/Curl: Benefit Roller Lash

Volume: Mac Cosmetics Magic Extension Fiber Mascara

The Mac mascara has become a new favorite but Roller Lash is the holy grail for me.

Lips

Lip liner is another product I truly don’t believe you need to spend a lot on. My NYX retractable lip liner is always my go to and will last all day.

Lipstick

Lipstick can be a very personal choice as well. I love a good warm nude tone and a satin/matte finish and shared some of my favorite brands below

Top Lipsticks

Jaclyn Cosmetics

Charlotte Tilbury

Mac Cosmetics
